Theme: Submit an idea or application involving SlimFIRE RemoteEntry 8: I would use SlimFIRE remote and X10
ActiveHome kit to control not only my lights, but also to control the temperature in my
home. I would program the remote's up and down dimmer buttons to control macros on the
ActiveHome software. These macros would convert the brighten/dim commands into temperature
up/down commands on the thermostat set-back controller. The compact size of the SlimFIRE
remote allows me to easily slip it in my pocket and control the temperature from anywhere
in my house. -- Steve Hindman
Entry 63: With active home I can boot the
upstairs or basement terminals of my home network using the SlimFIRE remote, providing me
access to my remote files and room specific controls without requiring a round trip on the
stairs and 10 minutes waiting for boot and shut down. -- Curtiss Pemberton
Entry 71:The ActiveHome SlimFIRE remote is
so small, I can now keep it on my keychain with me at all times. I could not do this with
the older bulky remote. Now I can use a macro to turn all lights on or off, or turn the
light on in the living room while I am still in the garage. It's great when your hands are
full of packages! -- Gary Polcz
Entry 88: Keep a SlimFIRE remote in the
car to enable and disable the power to the garage door opener(s) for added security -- Joe
Kagenski
Entry 308:I use my active home every day.
When I come home evenings it is dark, my lights are turned on along with my stereo system.
It makes homecoming a joy instead of the usual drab home alone feeling. Sometimes I bring
a friend home with me. I use my SlimFIRE remote to heat the hot tub, turn on soft lights
and soft music. My friends and family are really impressed. They think I am some kind of
computer whiz. ActiveHome and my SlimFIRE remote make all phases of my life so much easier
and even makes my coffee! -- Essie Brown
Entry 316: SlimFIRE allows me to doubly
protect my remote garage door opener. Even though the protection is pretty good with the
remote that came with the opener. Putting an X10 appliance module on it means X10 first
has to enable the opener before a remote will open the door. -- Ken Chernabrow
Entry 329: I was able to go from a novice
ActiveHome user to a power user in just days. I now have total control over my X10 system
because I can keep the SlimFIRE remote on me at all times. -- Mitch Prust |
