An idea or application for ActiveHome1. Entry 96: I dream of having an ActiveHome. I dream
of turning off my daughters stereo -- without having to tread through the junk in her
room. I dream having the coffee ready and the heater adjusted before I ever get out of the
warm bed in the dead of winter. I think about how nice it would be if I could come home to
a welcoming lamp on, instead of a dark, dreadful house. With ActiveHome, my dreams are
slowly becoming a reality, and without breaking the bank! Thanks X10! -- Dana SligeVotes

2. Entry 230: With 4 kids, 2 dogs, 1 cat, and a
husband, I think I already have an ACTIVEHOME. But, just the idea of being able to reduce
my utility bills by automatically turning off lights that the kids leave on is certainly
worth looking at this product. Wouldn't it be nice to have the lights and television
turn off automatically at the kid's bedtime? No more whining and pleading, "Aw, mom!
Just a little longer!" Wouldn't it be nice not to have to tiptoe in to bedrooms to
turn off radios and stereos? Wouldn't it be nice not to miss my favorite show because it
automatically turned on while I was busy finishing up the housework? Wouldn't it be nice
to come home to a welcomingly lit house after being out with the gang for some activity?
Wouldn't it be nice to be in an ACTIVEHOME? -- Kathleen Drew
3. Entry 103: My name is Josh and I'm 9. If I had
an ActiveHome it would work like this. I would wake up each day to an automated bed shaker
that would be controlled be ActiveHome. I would not have to turn on my light's because it
would already be done for me. I would make a way for it to have a nice warm shower ready
for me to get into. Next I would not be hungry because it would already cook my breakfast
for me and everyday I would have french toast with butter and sugar. When I heard a bell
it would be a 5 minute warning for me to hurry and brush my teeth and get ready because in
5 minutes it would turn on my favorite cartoon Mummys Alive when the TV turns off I know
its time to go to school. I would like to have this cool thing because I don't think that
I would ever miss the bus and that would make my mom very pleased . My friends would think
that I was pretty cool dude!! -- Josh Duffy
4. Entry 12: I am using X10 products
for almost five years. Before I used up to 20 simple timers, once Active Home appeared I
immediately upgraded and I am happy since. My Active Home controls virtually our
entire house. House is lighted depending on automatic light sensor (X10 Sundowner) and
heated as well. When I wake up my coffee is already brewed and drapes are pulled open. The
fountain and waterfall pumps are turned on by their appliance modules. Pool pump is
running just three days a week for three hours to keep my pool clean and save energy. The
appliance module turns on separate small pump which circulates the water through solar
collectors as long as sun shines (in winter x10 turns on gas heater). Five appliance
modules sprinkles my lawn during the day. Once the Sun sets, the garden lights and
aquarium lights are turned on. When I feel to watch a movie I just press one button.
The home theater macro turns the system on, closes the drapes and dims all the lights
mimicking real theater-like experience. At bedtime system turns all the lights off, in
winter it even prewarmes my bed for an hour (I do not want to sleep on powered heating
mattress pad). Just in case I forgot to turn off any of my appliances another macro turns
them off for me. There are only two things which I would like to add in future: 1) I
am sick and tired of having to remember to turn our home alarm on every night and off in
the morning. It is annoying when I forgot and open the entry door before disarming the
system. I want my Active Home to control DS7000 Home Alarm system as well. 2) It
would be nice to be able to get rid of all the remote controls and use speech command
control. I have yet to experiment with it since there are already some products compatible
with X10. If I feel so I just press another button and turn my wife on. Its not bad
at all! -- George Tuma
Entry 353: Picture this: You return home from a
long day at work. As soon as you get home, there is a nice fresh pot of coffee ready for
you. Your favorite music playing as soon as you open the door. The thermostat is set at
the perfect temperature and it feels great. Your bath is running, and it too is at the
perfect temperature. Sound like a dream? Well you can have this and more if you buy the
ACTIVEHOME automated system. -- Megan Guerrero |
