Theme:Submit an idea or application that utilizes X10's ActiveHome or Security System to provide
security or personal assistance!
Entry 96: for handicapped, or
wheelchair bound folks, ActiveHome is the perfect tool for living. using a little piece of
2-sided Velcro tape, you can attach the infrared/RF remote to the arm of the wheelchair.
in combination with several motion sensors, now the handicapped become handicapable.
moving from 1 room to the next triggers the motion sensors and lights up each new room.
once at the destination room, no fumbling for remotes is required, as all of the appliance
and home functionality can be controlled from the remote on the arm of the wheelchair.
combine the basics with some higher-end items, like automating curtain rods and venetian
blinds, and now tasks formerly impossible for the handicapped are now quickly and easily
done. combining x-10 and ActiveHome in any home where the occupants can no longer manage
their day to day lives makes a world of difference and opens up all new alternatives for
the handicapable. -- Derek J. Nolan Votes: 213
Entry 604: I have always
dreamed of having the house of the future similar to bill gates' "smart house",
but without the problems that he has experienced and with a price tag less than $64
million. ActiveHome is the future today. -- John Stachniewicz Votes: 134
Entry 39: You program the
x-10 system to turn on a light and turn on a tape recorder that has "who is it
recorded on it," that's sure to give the robber a scare. -- Greg Votes: 81
Entry 31: active home make my
life safer all around. from keychain remotes to motion detectors, lighting up my way at
night alone makes me fell better. (not to mention the motion detector I have hooked up to
the cassette of a big dog barking!) -- Daniel Patrick Votes: 55
Entry 435: I have thought
about using the ActiveHome package as an Active-office package. most offices have
computers these days so this would be an excellent opportunity to make your office lived
in when you need to. of course if your "office" is a cubicle I don't recommend
this. you could use the lamp module to turn a lamp off an on. the appliance module would
be great for a radio. you could set up the key chain remote to turn on the system when you
arrive. another idea for you coffee drinkers out there would be to turn on a coffee
machine in you office automatically so that there is a fresh pot of coffee when you arrive
in the morning... the list could go on forever.... -- Peter m. Stuckey Votes: 44 |
